Discover Dominica Authority held promotion in St. Lucia
Earlier this week the Discover Dominica Authority held a press conference at the Palm Haven Hotel in St. Lucia to announce its sponsorship of the Windward Islands Cricket Team for the Caribbean T20 Tournament. The second leg of the tournament took place at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds in St. Lucia on January 15, 2013. Manager of the Windward Islands Cricket Team, Lockhart Sebastien thanked Discover Dominica Authority for sponsorship of the team which had enabled the squad to prepare for the matches. Team's Captain Darren Sammy urged the Authority to continue sponsorship of the team and gave the assurance that the team would play to become the champions of the 2013 edition of the Caribbean T20 tournament. As part of its promotion in St. Lucia, the Authority organized a radio contest with The Wave radio where listeners could win a trip to Dominica on L'Express des Iles. Meetings were also held with travel agents, and radio and television advertisements were aired in St. Lucia for the duration of the tournament.
Discover Dominica Authority Prepares for Tourism Awareness Month May 2013
The Discover Dominica Authority is well underway in preparations for the 2013 Tourism Awareness Month. Dominica's Tourism Awareness Month is observed in May, which brings attention to the Dominica's tourism industry. This year's activities will again involve the youth, the community and the media. Hike Fest, DOMFESTA and other village activities will also form part of the month long activities. The industry awards ceremony will also be held to honour industry professionals who have excelled in their respective fields. The Discover Dominica Authority continues to work and partner with key stakeholders in the industry such as the Ministry of Tourism and the Dominica Hotel & Tourism Association to bring local awareness and sensitization to the general public hence highlighting the importance of the tourism industry in the lives of citizens.
